Two weeks after finding untreated water was discharged into the environment at a contaminated soil dumping site in Shawnigan Lake, the province says the operator is complying with their order.
Cobble Hill Holdings was hit with a Pollution Prevention Order on October 12 after heavy rain eroded a sand cover, leading to water making contact with contaminated material and then running off into the environment.
The Ministry of Environment says there was no release of contact water over the weekend, all water was managed in accordance with the order, and permanent liners are being installed on top of the landfills.
