Well, it's not a date for the arrival of commuter rail service for Greater Victoria, but advocates for the project are hailing the involvement of the Provincial Government as a sign things are finally on track.
The proposal to use a15-kilometre stretch of the E&N line for transit service between Westhills in Langford and Vic West has been endorsed by the mayors Langford, Victoria, Esquimalt, and View Royal.
Transportation Minister Todd Stone says based on support from those communities his Ministry will look at options around using the E&N rail line for commuter services between Langford and Victoria West.
Stone says the province will take the lead, and is forming a working group with the goal of turning the concept of commuter rail service into a reality.
He says with any major initiative, the first step is to ensure the idea meets the criteria for safety, sustainability and affordability, and that it makes good business sense before moving forward.
Stone says the working group will include representatives of his Ministry, local governments, BC Transit and the BC Safety Authority, and will include consultation with area First Nations.
Langford Mayor Stew Young says the fact the province is getting involved is as vital step, and says it's important all levels of government work together to finally make commuter rail a reality for residents.
