Police have now spoken with a woman who was attacked in her Oak Bay home on Tuesday.
Oak Bay police says detectives with the case interviewed the woman last night, and have a bit more information.
She told police that just before 7:30 Tuesday morning she was in her home in the 2500 block of Esplanade. She says she heard noises coming out of the kitchen area and when she encountered an unknown male she was struck several times with an edged weapon which may have been a machete.
The 45 year old resident provided the following description of the man she encountered in her home.
He is a white male, in his 20's, wearing a brown jacket, khaki pants and a blue and white bandana.
The attacker remains at large.
The Saanich Police Department Detective Division has taken the lead role in the investigation.
The woman and her family are requesting privacy at this time.
