The Victoria Pet Food Bank is desperate for donations after someone broke into a supply shed and stole two-months worth of dog and cat food.
The non-profit group delivers donated pet food to shelters and families in need. It's two primary recipients -- the Rock Bay Landing shelter and the Stan Hagen Centre for Families -- receives a combined 400 pounds of dog kibble and 150 pounds of cat food every twenty days.
Victoria Pet Food Bank president Margarita Dominguez says they visited their supply shed in Sooke yesterday, and found all of their stockpiled dog and cat food was gone.
"We had fifty bags of 33-pounds of dog food inside the shed, and another eight bags of cat food. When I opened the door, everything was gone. It was just terrible."
Dominguez says pet food donations can be made at their Halloween event at Clover Point this weekend, or by calling them at 778-352-2999.
