A man in his 30s has died after he was struck while trying to cross the Pat Bay Hwy Wednesday night.
A man in his 30's has died in hospital after he was struck while attempting to cross the Pat Bay Hwy Wednesday night.
Central Saanich Police report the man was hit by a southbound vehicle on Hwy 17 between Mt. Newton Cross Road and Island View Road.
Bystanders were assisting the victim, when police arrived on scene just after 10:30pm.
The man was rushed to the Victoria General hospital. He died a short time later.
The driver of the vehicle is co-operating with the police investigation.
A stretch of the Hwy 17 was closed overnight; it re-opened just after 5am.
The Saanich Police Department is asking any witnesses to contact them.
