Traffic was snarled on a long section of Douglas onto Highway 1 and on routes intersecting and leading to it.

Many people took to social media to vent their frustration.

The culprit?  Paving construction on a section of theTransCanada northbound just past the McKenzie Ave/Admirals Road intersection.

Many people tweeted their bewilderment over crews paving during the afternoon drive home.

Hang onto your patience - the work isn't done yet!

Starting Tuesday February 13, watch for a week of construction on Highway 1 between Mackenzie Avenue and Grange Rd.

Both projects will involve a lane shift and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h.
