A dramatic crash this morning along the Pat Bay Highway north of Sayward.
Acting Sgt. Leslie with Saanich Police says around 4:30 a female driver lost control near Tanner Road resulting in that crash, "she went off-road, went through a hydro pole, and then ended up down an embankment and in the front yard of someone's home."
The driver was the only person in the vehicle. She needed to be extracted and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still being determined but police don't suspect drunk driving.
The power pole that was knocked down resulted in a sizable power outage in Central Saanich and backed up traffic northbound for hours.
As of the time this story was published to the web, one northbound lane of the Pat Bay remained closed near Tanner Road and wasn't expected to open until 2pm. Power remained out for a number of BC Hydro customers and was estimated to be back on by 1pm.
