One man is in custody and is facing multiple charges following Tuesday's shooting incident in Langford.
Two vehicles were believed to be involved in the incident at the Happy Valley Market, a white Kia Optima and a brown Cadillac Deville.
While speeding away from the scene, the Kia crashed into an existing collision at Kelley Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway, falling right into the officers's laps.
West Shore RCMP Constable Nancy Saagar says the driver, 27 year old Justin Lemmen was taken into custody, and a weapon was seized. He is now facing multiple charges.
"The first one is unauthorized possession of a firearm, another one is prohibited possession of a firearm in a vehicle. Two counts of disobeying and breaching his undertaking which he was already on from a separate unrelated event, and then we have the final charge here of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Lemmen was the only person injured from the collision.
The Cadillac was found abandoned on Leila Place in Colwood, and RCMP are trying to locate the occupant, or occupants, of the vehicle.
"We're not labelling these people anything other than 'we need to know how they're involved'. We're not saying that they're suspects, but clearly something happened and we need to talk to them. We need to make sure that they're okay, first of all, and also hear from them. What do they know? And what happened?"
The Cadillac had damage to the rear passenger window, and forensic investigators are still trying to determine what caused the damage.
Saagar says bystanders were able to supply a very brief description of someone near the Cadillac, a Caucasian male in his 30's, last seen on foot near the Royal Colwood Golf Course.
She adds that investigators believe that this was a targeted incident, but still do not know the involvement of the other individual.
"We do believe that this was a targeted incident, now was this person the target? We don't know. Until we can get a hold of this individual and speak with them, we don't know who the target is."
Saagar says at this time there is no evidence that connects this evidence to the shooting in Langford two weeks ago, but investigators are still exploring the possibility of a connection. She adds that with Lemmen taken into custody, and the weapon seized, that the residents of the community should not be worried.
