An Oak Bay Police sergeant has been put on plain-clothed administrative duties pending a disciplinary investigation.
Following allegations, Sgt. Davindar Dalep was handed a protection order to stay away from a local woman and 4 family members. The officer's relationship to the woman is not known.
In a statement shared with CFAX 1070, Chief Ray Bernoties says when they learned of the allegation the sergeant was immediately placed administrative duties.
Saanich Police were also notified, and they confirm they have opened an investigation.
Bernoties says to remove any perceived or real conflict of interest, a request for an external investigation was made to the Office of the Police Complaints Commission. That is being carried out by VicPD.
A protection order is issued when an individual appears likely to commit a criminal offence, but there are no reasonable grounds to believe an offence has actually been committed.
Dalep is due back in court December 16th.
