While not surprising, it's good to note the province and the feds have confirmed the Capital Regional District met the September 30th deadline for senior government funding.
The project board managing the sewage treatment project will present its latest monthly update to CRD directors on Wednesday.
In that update, they say they've received written confirmation from the province that we just squeaked by the September 30th deadline. The federal government also responded in a letter, which was only delivered a day before the deadline.
Beyond that, the project board reports they're doing the preliminary work on the procurement process for both the main sewage treatment plant at McLoughlin Point in Esquimalt and the biosolids treatment facility at the Hartland Landfill in Saanich.
They're also launching into more consultations with all the communities near to either the main plant or the pipeline that'll carry sludge to the Hartland Landfill. That includes reaching out to the Department of National Defence Community, the Prospect Lake neighbourhood and the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area, which covers some of the neighbourhoods near the landfill.
