Saanich police say after a lengthy investigation into the accident on Gorge Rd West last October that took the life of a father of two last October no charges will be laid against the young driver.
Acting Sgt Jereme Leslie says it's been determined the driver of the SUV suffered a medical episode when it went off the road, mounted the sidewalk and struck Khushal Rana.
He died in the Intensive Care Unit at the Victoria General Hospital days later after having his leg amputated.
Rana had just left his young son's birthday party to go to work when he was hit. He died days later after having his leg amputated. His wife gave birth to their second child after his death.
Police are sending their thoughts and condolences go out to the Rana family.
The Office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles is reviewing the driver's fitness to drive.
