One of 3 new BC Ferries is on its way to British Columbia. The Salish Orca left Gdansk, Poland today on the first leg of a 10,440 nautical mile trans Atlantic journey that will take between 45 to 55 days -- arriving in B.C. in January.
The Salish Orca is BC Ferries’ first natural gas-powered vessel. Some of BC Ferries’ crew members will be on board for parts pof the journey for training and familiarization. The Ferry Corporation is planning open houses in Powell River and Comox where the ship is scheduled to start service in the spring of 2017.
