Besides approving more funding for police to help with mental health issues on the streets, Victoria City council has approved a rezoning plan for Dockside Green in Vic West.
The $9-Million development project will see 2, three-storey buildings with rental housing and will be built to LEED and Platinum standards.
Councillor, Pam Madoff says the revised plan is much-improved overall.
"There's been a vibrancy that's been brought to Dockside in this iteration because they've really engaged, in my opinion, with the community and with arts groups as well. And, we heard from one of the arts groups about the opportunities they've had to be there and what they've been able to do."
The new plan calls for a total of 12 multi-storey buildings on the 15-acre site as well as amenities including a plaza and a new public park.
