Nanaimo RCMP has handed a big ticket to a driver and impounded the vehicle after it was clocked on radar moving at 143 kilometres an hour Thursday.
RCMP's Municipal Traffic Services were doing speed monitoring on Hwy 19 at Ware Rd. when the vehicle zoomed by doing over 60 km/h above the posted limit of 80.
The driver was issued a $483 fine and points under the Motor Vehicle Act. He also lost his vehicle for at least 7 days.
RCMP remind drivers it's important to obey the posted limit, especially as winter approaches, and with shorter hours of daylight and potentially poorer road conditions.
