Motorcycle rider taken to hospital with undetermined injuries

Saanich Police are reminding motorists that making U-turns on thoroughfares is illegal.  This, after a motorcycle rider hit the side of a car performing a U-Turn on Royal Oak Drive at Smokey Smith Place (near Pipeline and West Saanich Rd.).

Sgt Alan Gurzinski with the Saanich Traffic Safety unit says it happened about 8:30 am. The motorcyclist suffered undetermined injuries:

" No we don't know what the injuries are.  It's just a big reminder that you've got to be aware of your surroundings - especially when you are doing turns like this, where it is illegal and you shouldn't be doing it.  But be especially aware of motorcycles and other vehicles around you."

It's too early to say if charges will be recommended.
