Oak Bay police are confirming the vehicle belonging to a missing senior was found on a logging road on Saturday.
82 year old Gladys Barman's green Honda was located on a remote logging road behind Lake Cowichan. But Barman was not with her car and remains missing.
Search efforts are underway and Cowichan Search and Rescue has been activated, along with the RCMP helicopter, RCMP Police Dog Services and other assisting agencies.
The search is ongoing and search efforts will continue for the foreseeable future.
Barman was last seen on video surveillance July 5th filling up her gas tank at the Petro Canada gas station on West Saanich Rd.
Her family has said she had been exhibiting some minor signs of confusion before she went missing -- but nothing that raised alarm.
RCMP are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle or a person matching the description of Gladys BARMAN in the area of Lake Cowichan in the days leading up to July 21st, to call the Lake Cowichan RCMP (at 250-749-6668).
Barman is described by police as about 5’9, about 190 pounds, with blue eyes. She was wearing glasses, a teal windbreaker, jeans and white sneakers.
Her family is requesting their privacy be respected at this time.
