The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says the cost of repairs to the Galloping Goose bridge over 6 Mile Rd. has not been determined yet, but they assure the structure is safe to use until it can be fixed.
Multiple agencies responded after a delivery truck driver forgot to lower a crane on his rig and tried to drive under the bridge yesterday (Wed), causing significant damage to the underside of the structure.
While some damage can be seen on the outer portion of the structure, and to the wooden floor of the bridge, the worst is to a steel beam underneath which was severely buckled by the impact.
Officials are doing a complete assessment of the damage to determine the cost and timeline for repairs, but say safety is their number one priority.
Meantime, there is no word on charges in connection to the crash.
