Here's another reason to fume the next time you're sitting in construction gridlock on McKenzie Interchange project
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructures revised budget for the project has ballooned to $96-million -- an increase of $11-million.
In April, the BC confirmed more delays for the project because of the discovery of variable rock conditions.
Winter weather was also cited, after heavy snowfall in February left the construction site buried for several weeks.
In a news release, the ministry says design modifications needed for the centre pier due to the unforeseen rock conditions will hike the cost.
As well, the ministry also points to additional environmental management, schedule delays because of the weather, and efforts to lessen traffic and noise impacts.
