Police in Victoria and RCMP on the West Shore are investigating 2 different locations where bodies were found.
VicPD was called to S.J. Willis Education Centre grounds on Tuesday where someone found a body on the 900-block Topaz side. A news release from Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crimes said police were called to a report of a sudden death, but little more.
However Times Colonist reporter Katie deRosa tells CFAX she spoke to an excavator who was working on the property, and he indicated the body had been there for some time:
"He was saying they were sort of digging around cleaning up some of the junk, and they, I guess, removed some soil and sort of had a small overcame them that was quite, ummm, a bad smell. And they they looked and saw what looked to be human remains wrapped in either a tarp or a tent."
The man was seen walking with investigators and pointing to various areas, as another officer video-taped.
The Coroner's office will determine the identity and cause of death.
Meantime at noon yesterday West Shore RCMP were led to the body of an adult male in a rural area, near Malloch Rd. in Metchosin. Investigators say foul play is suspected.
