The Langford man accused in the crash that killed Constable Sarah Beckett in April is facing a lawsuit over claims he drove impaired and crashed another vehicle just one month later.
Kenneth Jacob Fenton faces five charges in connection with the April collision that killed the West Shore RCMP officer.
CTV Vancouver Island has learned Fenton is also being sued by a woman named Megan Ashe who says Fenton crashed her truck while she sat in the passenger seat on May 22. Her statement of claim says Fenton was driving with her consent, but that he didn’t tell her he was impaired. He lost control on Goldstream Heights Drive, hitting a rock that caused the vehicle to roll over.
The lawsuit alleges Fenton was negligent for multiple reasons, including that he was impaired by alcohol, drugs and fatigue, and that he never told Ashe that he was impaired.
