There's big changes going on at the Bay Centre in downtown Victoria.
General Manager Darlene Hollstein says renovations are underway, and some current tenants are being moved to make way for a new major retailer that will fill 20-thousand square feet of space on 2 levels:
" It will be a retailer that will appeal to a broad base group of consumers so that's why we landed on this deal. Like I said, it will be good for downtown and great for our consumer base."
Hollstein says the in-coming retailer will be on the Douglas Street side of the mall:
"There's 2 spaces facing on Douglas Street right now. That will be the entrance into the new store. There's still one tenant in there and we've got H & R Block in there temporarily. But we'll start taking those spaces back in the next week or so, and start closing them off and doing some construction."
The new tenant will by opening in Spring 2019.
