The Victoria Airport had to stop boarding and passenger screening for half an hour due to a possible security breach.
Victoria International Airport Director Operations and Safety, Ken Gallant says one of the stores past security alerted security of a missing box cutter, which prompted the alert.
“We were informed about 3:40 of an item missing from one of our retail concessions in the terminal building,” Gallant said. “The item was of concern, it was a box cutter, so we initiated our security procedures and we stopped boarding of an aircraft. We emptied out our hold room and we did a sweep of the area, and after the sweep was concluded, the item was found.”
The box cutter had been misplaced, and the airport is continuing operations with slight delays.
