Hundreds of "plungers" turned out to brave the icy waters off Willows Beach Sunday in support of Special Olympics BC.
Members of local police departments, military, BC Special Olympics and their supporters braved the cold to raise awareness and funds for special olympians who take part in year-round sport and competition.
Cpl. Pat Bryant of the Central Saanich Police took part in the event. "We know how hard they train. All the funds that we raise go towards their training, their competition, getting them to and from their competition. We want to do whatever we can to help them."
Over $40,000 was raised leading up to an including Sunday's 2019 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics BC.
