Port Alberni's John Prpich and Nanaimo's David Dubbin have been through a lot together, after all they are lifelong friends.
Now, after more than 30 years of buying lottery tickets together, they are celebrating becoming multi-millionaires!
The pair matched all 6 numbers in this week’s $19.8 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot. They purchased the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven on Bowen Road in Nanaimo.
Dubbin says his wife was on the computer and told him someone in Nanaimo won the jackpot. After checking the numbers he called his childhood friend to share the news.
Prpich says his first thought was "it's 5:30 in the morning" -- but the was thankful he has such an honest friend. Prpich plans on taking care of his kids, and moving up his retirement.
Dubbin was already planning to retire in January, and says the win will help him focus on travel and golf -- adding he's always wanted to try the golf courses in Thailand, and now he can fly first class.
