Fenton pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death in the April 2016 crash that resulted in the death of Constable Sarah Beckett.
The court heard during Fenton's sentencing hearing that he had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit when he ran a red light, hitting Beckett's cruiser.
The crown had been asking for a 3-5 year jail sentence while the defense wanted 2-3 years.
