The Independent Investigations Office confirms it's investigating a police involved incident in Port Hardy last week in which a man may have "suffered serious harm during an interaction with officers."
On Tuesday, January 15th, RCMP were called to a residence for a complaint of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance. The man was arrested for breach of the peace and taken to cells at the Port Hardy RCMP detachment.
According to police, the male complained of an injury. Following his release officers offered to take him to hospital, but he asked to be taken home instead.
The man later chose to go to hospital where it was confirmed he had an injury.
