A Victoria man is in custody and has been taken to hospital for assessment after an hours-long negotiation Saturday morning.
Officers were called to a residence in the 500-block of Cecelia Road around 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
Based on calls and information gathered at the scene police believed the man may have been armed or have access to weapons.
Neighbours reported heavy police activity for most of Saturday morning and early afternoon. VicPD's Bowen Osoko says the initial call involved reports of a weapon. "The original call that brought us here was concerning and our first priority is the safety of the person involved and the people in the area and that's why the individual has been taken to hospital and the invetsigation is ongoing."
Osoko says specially-trained negotiators worked with the man to resolve the situation. The man exited the residence and gave himself over to officers around 2:30 Saturday afternoon.
He was taken to hospital for assessment.
Officers remained on scene looking for weapons or other evidence in the area that investigation is ongoing.
