Open-water, ultra-marathon swimmer Susan Simmons has had to postpone her historic double crossing of the Juan De Fuca Strait Wednesday because of unfavourable winds.
Simmons was to begin her swim from Victoria to Port Angeles and back Wednesday morning at 11 a.m., however, she says the wind would push her off course on her return and push her towards Seattle.
Simmons completed a one way swim across the Strait last summer, and if she completes this year's swim (a distance of 70 kilometers ) she will be will be the first person ever to swim both ways, back-to-back.
The swim would take Simmons up to 24 hours.
Organizers are monitoring the weather and tide conditions, and some new swim windows have opened up including Thursday, or possible days in early August.
