B.C.’s anti-gang police say up to 200 people, including full-patch Hells Angels members, could ride on Vancouver Island this weekend, in part, to honour a prospect murdered earlier this month.

39 year old Sooke man Michael Gregory Widner's remains were discovered earlier this month along the Pacific Marine route near Port Renfrew.RCMP later confirmed that Widner had known connections to the motorcycle gang and that his death was being investigated as a homicide.

Riders are expected to start in Nanaimo and end up at a known Hells Angels clubhouse on Spencer Road in Langford.

Police believe rides of this nature are an effort to "fly the flag" and let rivals and the public know the gang is still around.

Expect delays on the Island Highway Saturday afternoon. Mounties will be out in force to monitor the ride and ensure public safety.
