A private helicopter had a "hard landing" at Victoria International Airport at about 12:30pm Monday.
Airport spokesman Ken Gallant confirms one person was onboard and suffered injuries, "he received medical attention at the site and then was taken to the hospital."
Gallant says it's unknown how serious the injuries to the person are. The chopper incident has forced the closure of 2 runways, but operations are not being affected.
"Transportation Safety Board was notified and, right now, we're awaiting approval from them to remove the aircraft from our runway," Gallant said at 2pm. He described the helicopter as "broken into a couple of pieces."
Sidney-North Saanich RCMP confirmed they attended the scene for a "hard landing." No word on what caused it.
