The Victoria SPCA says the condition of many of the cats saved from a hoarding house in the CRD is improving.
Annie Prittie Bell, Branch Manager at SPCA says they have had a number of volunteer vets arrive on scene to help with the cats so they didn’t have to be moved.
“We have doing a bit of upper respiratory and fecal testing to see what is going on with these guys. And we are now doing eye treatments on a whole group of them and some blood work on the ones who appear to be the sickest. So far everything is coming back pretty good.”
Officials on Tuesday say there were 56 cats brought in over a three period after it was found out they were living in unsanitary crowded conditions in a home somewhere in the capital region. Many of the cats were in a various states of sickness and dehydration.
This prompted the SPCA to ask for money and supplies to help care for the unprecedented influx in the shelter.
Prittie Bell says so far none of the cats have had to be put down and they are hoping to find forever homes as the cats recover.
