Police officers from across Canada and the U.S., are on their way to Victoria to take part in funeral services for a fellow officer who spent more than 30 years in a coma following an on duty collision.
Cnst Ian Jordan died last week at Glengarry Extended Care hospital where he was being cared for.
The service for will take place tomorrow (Thursday) at 2pm, and will involve about 45 minutes of rolling road closures as the procession makes it's make to Christ Church Cathedral.
The marching contingent will leave Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre at 12:30 p.m. heading east on Caledonia Avenue past the Victoria Police headquarters. Then it will turn south on Quadra Street to join mourners at the church on Burdett Ave.
Those wishing to pay their respects are asked to line the procession route along Quadra.
In September 1987 Jordan was 35 years old, married , and had a 16-month-old son, when he was called to a reported B & E in progress. His cruiser collided with another responding cruiser at an intersection, and remained unresponsive ever since.
He died last Wednesday night (Apr. 11) at age 66 from complications of a lung infection.
