The City of Langford and the West Shore Rotary Club are fundraising to create a playground in memory of Cnst. Sarah Beckett, an RCMP officer killed while on duty in April 2016.
Beckett, a mother of 2, had just returned from maternity leave when her cruiser was T-boned by a speeding pick-up truck.
The community is out to raise $250,000 dollars to build the playground to be designed for children under age 12.
The City is pledging land next to the City Centre Park Stadium.
The goal is to have the money raised, and the Sarah Beckett Memorial Playground opened by late August.
