Crime scene tape will continue to surround an Oak Bay apartment for the rest of the week as investigators with the Vanouver Island Major Crimes Unit looks into the slayings of 2 young sisters.
Police were called to an apartment at Beach Drive and Goodwin about 5pm Christmas Day.
CTV Vancouver Island reporter Robert Buffam says an injured man also found in the suite has been identified by friends as Andrew Berry -- the girls' father:
"Their father is in custody, and we know the identities of the 2 girls. Chloe as well as Aubrey Berry. Chloe was 6 and Aubrey was 4 ."
Buffam says the father's condition is not known:
" We don't really. I spoke to a friend of the mother and asked her that, she didn't know. The police have not, over the last day when I've spoken to them, they haven't indicated the extent of his injuries. They haven't made an arrest yet but he is in custody, and they're not looking for any other suspects."
Berry was embroiled in a bitter custody dispute with the girls' mother, Sarah Cotton.
The manner in which the girls died has also not released.
