A former staffer of MLA Rob Fleming has pleaded guilty to defrauding Fleming's Victoria-Swan Lake Constituency Office.
Forty-five year-old Marni Ruth Offman appeared in a Victoria courtroom this morning to plead guilty to two counts of fraud over five-thousand dollars. The offences occurred between 2009 and 2015, and both were tied to her work within Fleming's constituency office.
Three other theft or fraud related charges have been stayed.
Special prosecutor Dirk Ryneveld says the judge has granted the crown's request that a psychiatric assessment be done prior to sentencing.
"It's not only important to know what happened, but why it happened. A court would be assisted greatly by knowing the background of a particular accused, and what may have prompted the offences to have been committed."
A court date of January 11 has been set to receive the psychiatric report, and to set a date for Offman's sentencing.
