Today a former CFB Esquimalt officer has been awarded the Order of Military Merit in Quebec City for his work on the Pacific Fleet Diving Unit.
Petty Officer 1st Class Nicholas John Arthur LePage has been a memeber of the Canadian Armed Forces for 22 years and moved to Esquimalt to work on the diving unit.
During his time he held several different positions.
“Following very challenging training, he was posted to the Fleet Diving Unit (Pacific) in Esquimalt, B.C, where he served in a number of positions and assignments over the next decade, eventually becoming lead diver, instructor and then senior diver of the unit in 2015,” the department of national defence said in an email statement.
LePage was awarded the merit by Governor General Julie Payette for his distinguished service and innumerable contributions to the Royal Canadian Navy.
