A state memorial funeral service for former BC premier Dave Barrett will be held in Victoria on Saturday, March 3rd starting at 10:00 a.m. at UVic's Farquhar Auditorium. The service is open to the public.
Barrett, the first BC NDP premier of the province died February 2nd, following a long battle with Alzheimers.
Barrett served one term in office from 1972 to 1975, ending a 22 year run by the Social Credit Party.
During his tenure his government created the Agricultural Land Reserve to protect disappearing farmland, created ICBC, the Labour Relations Board, and reformed the welfare system.

In addition a book of condolences youy can sign in person is available at the Legislature's Hall of Honour until 2 p.m. on Friday, March 2.
All messages will be presented to Barrett's family. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be directed to the Alzheimer's Society of B.C., the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion, or a charity of choice.
