Hospitals and health care clinics up and down the island are filled to capacity as this year's flu season hits harder than anticipated. Island Health Executive Director Norm Peters says,
"it has an impact on our Emergency Departments which right now are working at over capacity."
Island Health says last week alone more than a dozen surgeries were postponed because of the flu outbreak, there weren't enough hospital beds.
181 Islanders have been diagnosed with the flu, 66 are still in hospital. 5 People have died in hospital or Island care homes this season. There is still time to get a flu shot the other best way to protect yourself is to wash your hands frequently.
