A sign erected outside an Esquimalt nightclub has ignited debate on social media.
The sign outsidee the Carlton Club proclaims "Tequila makes your clothes fall off". And while some on social media say it's not a big deal -- others, are very upset.
Veronica Greer says she can't understand why a business would post something like that -- saying it promotes rape:
" What they have not thought of is this is perpetuating rape culture, it's glorifying feeding especially women and girls alcohol -- to try to get into their pants."
Greer says as a parent and a rape survivor she is absolutley appalled by the decision to post the sign. Greer is also a counsellor who works with rape survivors, and is a candidate for Esquimalt council.
One of those weighing in on social media is Mayor Barb Desjardins -- who gave the sign a frowny face emogi.
CFAX has reached out to the Cartlon Club for comment.
