Esquimalt is holding an open house Thursday to gather ideas on how to spend the $17-million they are getting for taking the sewage plant in their municipality.
Acting Mayor Susan Low says there are 3 pools of money that the funds are allowed to be spent on -- all "bricks and mortar" projects involving water front park improvements, Bullen Park Recreational Facilities, and public safety buildings or facilities in Esquimalt:
" And those were the 3 pools that were negotiated as were coming to the agreement to do the plant at McLaughlin Point. We have 5 years to invest the money, so we will do this consultation and by very early 2019 or late 2018 we will know what we are doing and get shovels in the ground pretty quickly."
The open house is in Council Chambers from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday.
