Prior to the official approval of the Site C dam project Green Leader Andrew Weaver suggested the voters of Nelson-Creston should consider a recall campaign against their MLA -- Energy Minister Michelle Mungall.
Speaking on CFAX this morning Mungall says it's just Weaver's way:
" Well, I think many people are familiar about how he shares his views on Twitter rather than... he didn't have a conversation with me about this at all, and my personal feelings."
Mungall says it was a difficult decision, and many people -- including her -- aren't happy about it. But she insists, it was the only choice given the financial implications of cancelling it:
"It was really the only choice available to us when we considered the financial impacts it would have in British Columbians. Not just in terms of a 12% rate hike that would have to take place in 2020, as the BCUC told us, if we should cancel. But also how it would impact our provincial debt ceiling and our credit rating."
Mungall says now that we have a more truthful picture of the budget the NDP will do their very best to mitigate the consequences of site C, and keep the project on time and on budget.
