The province has announced $45-million dollars in funding for eight affordable housing projects in Greater Victoria.
The funding is part of a $500-million dollar investment announced by the government last month, and now the province has revealed some of the local projects that will benefit from the funding.
Executive director at Pacifica Housing Dean Fortin says they're ecstatic to be getting a combined $15.5-million dollars for two low income housing projects.
"For Langford, it is on a current site that we have out there. Oak Park is the current complex. We're looking at 64 units in the first phase. We have had preliminary conversations with municipal authorities," says Fortin.
"The same is true, and we're so proud of the one we're looking at in Colwood. It's right across from Royal Roads University. It, too, is a four-storey building, (with) 88 units."
Six other affordable housing projects in Victoria, Saanich, Colwood, and Sooke will be also getting portions of the $45-million dollars in funding.
