The Downtown Victoria Business Association says a new 53-spot Park and Ride aimed at downtown commuters is more than half sold, and is expected to be totally sold out by opening day on Saturday.
Spokesperson Kerry Milton says at $100 for a parking spot and a monthly adult bus pass, it's a cheaper option for many downtown workers.
Milton says once that lot fills up, the DVBA is already working on a second and third Park and Ride:
"Park 2 is in the works. Again all the partners have to come together in order for it all to work. We wanted to do this as a pilot project and make sure it was full before we launched another.
We've heard people say oh, 53 spots, that's nothing. But the reality is we have to make sure the demand is there, so that's what we've done. "
The first Park and Ride is located at Francis and Douglas, and is a venture between the property owner - the Pattison Group, as well as BC Transit and Robbins parking.
Milton says the plan is to locate the third Park and Ride at a different entrance to the city, but she can't say where yet.
