Driver escapes injury after rollover in Central Saanich

Police say the driver was travelling southbound on Wallace Drive in his red 2015 Dodge pickup truck when he attempted to pass two vehicles at a high rate of speed.

A 21-year-old male escaped injury after a single-vehicle rollover accident on Wallace Drive Thursday night

Central Saanich Police say they multiple calls came in just before 9 p.m., reporting a vehicle crash on Wallace Drive at Hagan Rd.

When police arrived the lone driver was located standing on the sidewalk with only minor abrasions.

Police say the driver was travelling southbound on Wallace Drive in his red 2015 Dodge pick-up truck when he attempted to pass two vehicles at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the truck and slammed into a rock face before rolling over several times. He managed to free himself from the damaged vehicle.

The driver received a 3-day roadside suspension and his vehicle was impounded.  He was also ticketed for driving without due care and contrary to restrictions. 

He was treated by paramedics and released at the scene.
