A portion of Pandora Avenue at Douglas Street was closed for several hours Tuesday evening as police talked a distressed man down from a large construction crane.

Officers and other emergency crews were called a downtown Victoria construction site around 4:30 pm.

The street was cordoned off as police negotiators worked with the man, who was near the top of the 40-metre high crane. A large crowd of onlookers gathered.

A police spokesperson says about 5-hours later the man came down and was taken to the hospital.
