The Capital Regional District is pushing ahead in its efforts to create a regional transportation service.
The Board agreed to advance the transportation service establishment bylaw for approval.
The bylaw, if approved would among other things, establish a regional transportation service focused on transportation infrastructure, funding applications and partnerships.
The Local Government Act requires that the transportation bylaw be approved by the Inspector of Municipalities and receive assent of the voters. The CRD Board will also continue discussions on governance with the bylaw approval process.
A regional transportation service was identified as a priority by the CRD Board following approval of the Regional transportation Plan in 2014.
