At a closed meeting this morning, Victoria City Council directed staff to examine new locations for the 50-metre Crystal Pool and fitness centre replacement -- which means a decision on where the new facility will be built will be deferred.
Last month council voted to proceed with the original design and told staff to report back today (Feb 6th) on possible sites for the project.
A news release says possible new locations have surfaced since then, but are still in the North Park and Hillside-Quadra neighbourhoods.
The locations have not been revealed because they could involve potential land acquisitions.
It's not known how long the assessment will take, but the release notes staff will report back to Council in a "timely manner."
Meantime, council says they remain committed to replacing the facility, and once a preferred site is chosen, an updated scope, timeline and budget will be prepared to complete the next phase of work.
