The Chinese Cemetary at Harling point has been cleaned up -- much to the delight of the community.
The designated historic site in Oak Bay was discovered vandalized with red paint last week.
There was concern the paint could not be safely removed from the more than 100 year old stones.
But Councilor Charlayne Thornton-Joe says Ken Johnson, president of the Hallmark Society, and the "Goodbye Graffiti" company stepped up:
“Ken Johnson went down there and made a recommendation to me of how it be best removed and at the same time the owner of goodbye graffiti contacted me and said they’d be happy to donate their time and supplies.”
Thornton-Joe hopes says the site is important to the Chinese community, and she hopes whoever vandalized the stones will think better of returning for a repeat performance.
