The community of Chemainus, located on the east shore of Vancouver Island, has been the scene of heavy police and ambulance presence since early Friday evening.
Police indicate they're conducting a manhunt after reports of shots fired along a stretch of Chemainus Road. First responder's and dozens of police vehicles and officers in camouflage with guns drawn have been seen in the area since around 6 pm.
RCMP have not released any details other than to say they are dealing with an "active situation".
