The founder of an addiction treatment program in Central Saanich says the program is being under-utilized, especially in light of the rise in overdoses in BC.
Richard Leblanc, of Woodwynn Farms treatment program in Central Saanich wants the District, mayor and councillors to accelerate the program's application process to establish and expand its services. He tells CFAX its a chance to create some options for people.
"When they know their buddies have done well in life-hey that's something that may work for me--so, let's create that opportunity for people to see something new and let's stop band-aid solutions over gaping wounds. Let's implement some real solutions."
Leblanc says the permit would increase the number of participants over the next three years from 9 to at least 40 people off the streets.
